Species Guidelines

Universal rules
- All Vulpenta must have a pouch
- All Vulpenta must have at least one horn
- Horns, claws, spikes and other bone must be made of crystal. Teeth can be "normal"
- The tail must be big at the base, much like that of a reptile, no fox or wolf tails!
- The snout is small, it is either house-cat like or like the snout of a fennec fox. Absolutely NO wolf or dog muzzles!!
- Vulpenta can only create hybrids within their own species.

*please note that these particular ear examples do not fit the DuneDiver Vulpenta, unless they are a hybrid with one other Vulpenta species!

The standard Ascendian Vulpenta and first kind of Vulpenta that existed!Ascendian Vulpenta live rather deep inside the Ginnungagap, due to the history of their heritage.Ascendian Vulpenta are the most connected to magic, due to their ability of directly drawing energy from crystals. While all Vulpenta can do this, by ingesting them, Ascendian Vulpenta have better mana reserves and are more efficient at digesting the material. They are, unlike the other Vulpenta also able to establish a connection between them and the crystal, to not only look at past events that happened in the area, but also draw energy from crystal WITHOUT ingestion.Ascendian Vulpenta are also the only ones able to summon a pair of wings.

Lakebed Vulpenta live at the very bottom of the Ginnungagap, inside the well of souls.Lakebed Vulpenta have gills at the sides of their neck, but also have regular lungs, to also breathe on land. They have very thin fur that, when dry, can cause problems for their skin. This species of Vulpenta usually lives in cavesystems in the water, most caves have airpockets, so they can have visitors of other Vulpenta species.
They can have any amount of fins inspired by whatever marine animal you can find!

DuneDiver Vulpenta live in the middle of the Ginnungagap, where there is a vast desert. They are the smallest kind of Vulpenta, with a max. height of 140cm.These Vulpenta are able to quickly dig into the sands and hide. They usually have big, underground tunnelsystems, but some like to live in caves above ground.Their Ears are smaller than those of the other Vulpenta species, and can easily fold back, to allow digging, without sand getting into the ears. The thick fur that grows on their back protects them from the large insects that live near their home, while also providing a protective layer against the heat, and warming them when night falls. They are able to roll into a ball for fast travel, and also do not have pawpads. They also lack claws on their feet, to provide extra stealth.

The CloudHopper Vulpenta live at the very first layer of the Ginnungagap, where they usually move around by flying. Some CloudHopper Vulpenta have whiskers. While any Vulpenta can have any sort of whsikers, it seems that the Draconic-looking whiskers are quite common in CloudHoppers. They have two or more pairs of fins or wings on their tails to help with flying. The wings and fins they have can be feathery or scaly or whatever you like, but they must be physically attached to the body.CloudHopper Vulpenta have a scaly belly, which seems to give it more grip, when holding an egg in their pouch, so it won't fall out mid-flight.CloudHoppers aren't very picky when it comes to building a home, many of them like to travel as well.

SnowPoint Vulpenta, as you may be able to tell, live in the very cold areas of the Ginnungagap - oddly enough, that area is right atop the Desert!SnowPoint Vulpenta seem to more commonly have antler-like horns, in comparison to the other species. Their Thick fur protects them from the harsh cold, while their big claws help them climb and hollow out boulders, trees or even ice blocks, to build their home in.They do have pawpads hidden underneath their fur, which females will cut free, as especially rare pawpad shapes are considered quite beautiful.

Magic abilitiesThere is a lot of magic elements that Vulpenta have. Some may not have been discovered yet! (make smth up if you want!) You can also go crazy with what abilities come with the elements!

Additional info:
- Bones are not edged like natural crystal, they are smooth!
- Bones have the same color as the other crystal parts(claws/spikes/horns)If yours have different colors, the bone is of either color or a gradient of all of them
- Vulpenta have either regular or split tongues(NOT like a snake tongue, just a split normal tongue)
- All spikes and horns are custom in size, shape and amount.
- Pupils and Pawpads can have any shape you want.
- Heterochromia and Dark sclera/colored sclera is ok!

Regarding a Vulpenta's age:
- Vulpenta are seen as adults at the age of 18!
- magic abilities can be learned as soon as an age of 5 years is reached
- Vulpenta have a lifespan similar to that of a human - there is exceptions, like elders.

Some rules
- Vulpenta can breed with other species, but the child will always be a vulpenta.
- Vulpenta cannot have extra limbs, body/tail maws etc.
- other modifications such as a sprout on the head, mechanical parts, or flowers growing on the fur are definetly allowed, mechanical limbs must only be used to make up for a lost limb, or as armor, they cannot be a natural part of a Vulpenta.
- The sclera of their eyes can be colored/black, pupils can have any shape! Hypno eyes etc. are allowed!

Lore

Vulpenta didn't actually naturally occur at first, they were the result of a twisted experiment.CW : Implied torture, implied deathOn Terragaea lived a Terrox known as Kaerlus, who believed that his species was the superior one, and as their leader, he should own all of Terragaea.
So he did exactly that. He conquered and everyone who opposed him - wether it was from his or the opposing clan - was sent to the Arbiter's fortress. The Terrox in charge there were advised to keep it under wraps, so Kaerlus could continue to lie to his people.
While they were also ordered to dispose of the captives, one of the Terrox, a scientist, decided to experiment with a body reaction, known as "Mana imbalance", in which the body holds too much mana - a natural thing that every living being has inside them - although, in extremely small amounts. The things containing the most mana were crystals - by chipping the crystal and piercing the test subject's blood vessel, he was able to achieve this reaction. Small amounts at first, which resulted in vomitting, bleeding, dizzyness and other sickness-like symptoms like fever. But as the dose got bigger, the result was death...for most. Some transformed, most into grotesque, shapeless monsters, but some became what we now know as Vulpenta. As the experiments continued, the Vulpenta noticed they had gained magic abilities. A skill that proved useful in their escape.
Knowing they could not return to their families under any circumstance, they fled into the Abyss in the middle of the Island of Sheridaea. The Ginnungagap, where they were re-discovered over 100 years later by a research squad - the Delta squad, consisting of 3 Terrox - one of which had turned into a Vulpenta. They explained that it happened due to an attack by a beast with a crystal stinger.
The Vulpenta explained the happenings of years ago to the squad, prompting one of them to stay, and voluntarily experiment on himself, to turn as well. The last member vanished days later, never to be seen again.
The two remaining members would then be the first ones to create an egg together, proving that the species was now established in nature.
